Specialized Civil Work Around Underground Tank Systems
Large fiberglass tanks require careful field preparation before they are placed below grade. The success of the installation depends on excavation geometry, stable access, proper bedding, controlled lifting coordination, consistent backfill material and careful support around the tank haunches and ribs.
On this type of work, GEDCO’s role is focused on the heavy civil scope: preparing the excavation, supporting safe equipment access, coordinating with suppliers and lifting operations, placing approved granular material, managing backfill lifts and restoring the site to required grades.

Why It Requires Experience
Fiberglass tanks are durable and corrosion-resistant, but they depend on the surrounding civil work for long-term performance. Poor bedding, unsuitable backfill, sharp debris, uncontrolled water or unsupported voids can create problems after installation. That is why the excavation and backfill process must be planned and executed carefully.
